Description

Mindfulness isn't just a buzzword: the practice is an evidence-based approach to reducing stress, chronic pain and a range of other life issues. When left unmanaged stress can compromise your overall health. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teaches techniques steeped in science-based research for changing our relationship with stress, supporting one's ability to live more in the present moment.

Learn the scientific underpinnings of mind-body medicine to promote resiliency and healing. Based on the highly acclaimed program curated by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, this streamlined version of MBSR will give you the essential lessons in 8 two-hour classes. It will help improve focus, combat stress, and better navigate unpredictable life events. This course gets rave reviews from participants!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the Fundamentals of Mindfulness: Introduce participants to the core concepts of mindfulness, explaining its scientific basis and the psychological mechanisms through which it reduces stress and improves mental health.
  2. Learn Mindfulness Techniques: Teach practical mindfulness techniques that can be applied in daily life, including formal and informal meditation practices and mindfulness exercises.
  3. Manage Stress Effectively: Equip participants with mindfulness-based strategies and tools to recognize, manage, and reduce stress in both professional and personal settings.
  4. Improve Physical and Mental Resilience: Demonstrate how mindfulness can enhance physical and mental resilience, helping participants to cope better with chronic pain, anxiety, and other stress-related conditions.
  5. Apply Mind-Body Medicine: Explore the principles of mind-body medicine as they relate to mindfulness, emphasizing how mental states can affect physical health and vice versa.
  6. Develop a Personal Mindfulness Practice: Guide participants in developing a consistent personal mindfulness practice, based on the teachings of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program.
  7. Enhance Focus and Concentration: Teach participants how to improve their focus and concentration through mindfulness exercises, contributing to better performance in various aspects of life.
  8. Respond to Life's Challenges with Greater Calm: Provide tools and techniques for participants to respond more effectively to unpredictable life events, reducing reactive behaviors and fostering a more thoughtful, calm approach.

These objectives aim to offer participants a comprehensive foundation in MBSR, enabling them to use mindfulness to significantly improve their quality of life and well-being.
